Thanks to elisi, I've just seen one of the best Jack vids I've ever seen. A must-see for any Jack Harkness fan! :)

With all the JM and Cap'n John squeeing I've been doing, you might be forgiven for not realising that I'm also a fan of JB, Cap'n Jack, and indeed of Torchwood itself (although the first series was a bit hit and miss for me). This video reminded me of exactly why I love the character so much:

Behind Blue Eyes by obfreak

I've always associated the song Behind Blue Eyes with Spike (how could you not?) and didn't think that it would work for me in a Jack vid, but it really, really does!

I'm not, nor will I ever be, ready to move on from Spike, but I've realised that I no longer need (or want) to see any more of his story on my TV screen. I miss Spike, I really do...and I loved every second of his story that we got on the show(s) (yes, even AtS S5), but the time for any more of Spike's story in TV form has passed, imho. He lives on for me in my head, in fanfiction, and in my heart. There will never be another TV character like him for me, but time doesn't stand still and things (including JM) have to be allowed to move forward...

Which brings me (of course) to my latest squeefest. :)

Cap'n John Hart.

I've followed everything JM has done since BtVS and AtS, and love being a part of his fandom. I'm a fan of his acting and of his music, and seeing him perform live (and meeting up with my online friends) is something I look forward to every year.

So the fact that he's getting so much attention for his role as Cap'n John in Torchwood is incredibly squeeworthy to me. I'm loving every picture, every interview, every magazine cover and every new clip we get to see. And the wonderful thing is: I really, really like this new character! I haven't felt this excited about an episode of a TV show in a long, long time. Yes, I'm aware that these two episodes could be all we get of Cap'n John. But if they are? So what! I'm going to enjoy every second of them...and who knows what other great things could be just around the corner? :D

It really is a great time to be a Jamses fan. *pets him*

Of course, this new character is inevitably going to be compared to Spike. But Cap'n John isn't Spike. He's a whole new character, and one I'm looking forward to getting to know...for however long that may turn out to be. :)

Does any of this mean that I'll be turning my back on the Buffyverse, Spike or Spuffy any time soon? Hell, no! All it means is that I'm going to allow myself to enjoy new shows, new characters and new fandoms...while still enjoying (and being a part of) the Buffyverse fandom. :)

And (of course) there will never be a shortage of JM squee in this LJ. Jamses is always going to be made of squee for me, sad old fangirl that I am. But it's sooo much fun! *g*
